6.1 Access by Train (Nearest Station and Directions)
Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine is located in Sumiyoshi Ward, Osaka City, and is easily accessible by train.

The journey from central Osaka takes approximately 20 minutes.
For example, it takes approximately 10 minutes on the Nankai Main Line from Namba Station, making it an easy location to combine with sightseeing in Osaka.

🔸Directions (From Namba)

  1. Take the Nankai Main Line (towards Wakayama City)
  2. Get off at Sumiyoshi-Taisha Station
  3. Walk 3 minutes to Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine.
    Using the train allows you to avoid traffic jams even during peak season, making it especially recommended during New Year’s visits and festivals.

6.2 Access by Bus
In addition to the train, you can also access Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine by bus from Osaka city and the surrounding area.

🔸Osaka City Bus
・Get off at the Sumiyoshi Park bus stop → Approximately a 5-minute walk
・Direct routes available from Namba and Tennoji

🔸Nankai Bus
・Accessible from Sakai
・Get off at the Sumiyoshi bus stop and it’s within walking distance
However, please note that roads are very congested during peak seasons such as New Year’s visits and the Sumiyoshi Festival, so buses are prone to delays.

6.3 Route by Car
You can also visit Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine by car.

  • Approximately 5 minutes from the Tamade Exit on the Hanshin Expressway Route 15 Sakai Line
  • Approximately 10 minutes from the Suminoe Exit on the Hanshin Expressway Route 15 Sakai Line
  • Approximately 20 minutes from downtown Osaka (Namba/Tennoji)

🔸Notes

  • During peak periods such as New Year’s visits and summer festivals, the temple grounds’ parking lot fills up early in the morning.
  • Many surrounding roads are one-way, so we recommend setting your car navigation system accordingly.
  • There are paid parking lots nearby, but they fill up quickly during peak periods.
    For this reason, if you plan to visit by car during peak periods, we recommend checking parking information in advance or using public transportation whenever possible.
